Today, I decided that it was a good day to talk about myself and how and why I have chosen this path.
So here goes: My Story
My name is Claire Anne and I am mother to two amazing, genuine and sensitive grown children, who are parents to my six beautiful growing grandchildren.
My love affair with motherhood began at a very young age, as far as I can remember I wanted to be a mother. I must have expressed these desires with my mother because one Christmas, I was so excited to find under the tree a beautiful newborn doll, all soft bodied with a full head of hair. I also got a baby bath for her, one I could put real water in, and a tiny crib just for her.
Soon after, a neighbour who looked after me when my Mom worked had a baby boy I was so taken with him, every minute I was there I was helping her with baby. A few years later my sister became a Mother and I became a Mom too. I was there at his birth, I guess thinking about it now, that was my first birth as a Doula, and from that moment on I was bedazzled with birth and babies. He was the most gorgeous baby.
Years passed, and my turn came to become a mother. By this time, I owned my own farm in Alberta and I had studied Animal husbandry, nutrition and large animal artificial insemination.
I managed the farm, a farrow to finish operation, as well as a cow calf operation, with every one of their births I witnessed their behavior and calmness and envisioned the same for myself. Although my birth was a longer process than what I had witnessed with the animals, the serenity and calmness prevailed and my daughter made her entrance earth side naturally, I was elated and filled with an indescribable energy and motherly love and thus my Motherhood journey began.
Almost three years later my son was born, a much easier natural birth and I was again blessed with that beautiful exhilarating feeling of Motherhood and all that it encompasses. Following his birth, I was even more determined to one day pursue my passion of birth and helping Mothers through this rite of passage from womanhood to Motherhood. Many years went by before I could follow my heart, and now today, I am focused on the magic of birth and being a Doula enabled me to work with families who are wanting to make informed birth choices about their own pregnancy and birth.
I am an avid reader and an insatiable student, I am constantly registering for new courses and programs, so that I may offer my clients the best possible care.
I work diligently with my clients as soon as possible and often even before pregnancy to get them on a proper nutrition program, preparing their bodies to grow a baby. So passionate am I about birth, I attended a three day midwifery skills workshop with Indie Birth, in Sedona Arizona. A wonderful experience, that has enabled me to be empowered and empowering about the natural wonderment of physiological birth. I have also attended an Indie Birth Retreat, there, I participated in workshops and conferences with well known birth workers, like Maryn Green and Margo Blackstone, the founders of Indie Birth, Gail Heart, and Dr.Molina to name a few.
I have also taken a weekend workshop with Whapio “ The Matrona”.
Most recently, I completed the Birth Trauma Ontario course and The Traditional Birth Companion intensive training with Billie Harrigan. These courses have enabled me to further work and support families who wish an undisturbed physiological birth journey in the comfort of their home.

I am confident, caring, calm, with a very centered heart. I bring peace and comfort to the birth space.
